Frequently asked questions

How do I safely use wax melts?

Wax melts are small scented pieces of wax that are melted using a wax melt burner to release their fragrance. Unlike candles they have no wick, all the scent comes from the wax itself being gently warmed.
You will need a wax melt burner these come in two types, electric burners which use a small bulb or heating plate to melt the wax, and tea light burners which use an unscented tea light candle underneath a dish to generate heat. Both work well but electric burners offer more control over temperature. Never use a burner designed for essential oils as these get too hot and can be a fire hazard.
Simply place one or two melts into the dish of your burner and turn on your electric burner or light your tea light. The wax will slowly melt and begin releasing its fragrance. Do not add water.
Each melt can be used multiple times until the fragrance fades. When you can no longer smell the scent it is time to replace your wax. Allow the wax to cool and solidify before removing it from the dish.
Once the wax has cooled and set you can pop it out of the dish, wipe the dish clean with a paper towel and add your next melt. If the wax is stubborn you can briefly warm it for a minute to loosen it before removing. My melts are quite soft so often you can apply a small amount of pressure to one side of the wax and it will simply come free!Always place your burner on a stable heat resistant surface away from flammable materials, curtains and drafts. Never leave a lit tea light burner unattended and always extinguish before leaving the room or going to sleep. Keep wax melts and burners out of reach of children and pets as the wax can be harmful if ingested and the burner dish gets hot during use.

If you are not confident you know how to safely use your wax melts please refrain for purchase.

Where do you get all your products from?

I made all of my items myself. Obviously things like hardware on my keychains, and zippers on my pouches are purchased. But all of the making is done by me and only me. I sew all my products and hand-pour and mix all my wax melts myself along with designing the products and labels.
These are all made in my home, I have a designated space for both my sewing and my melt making.

All orders are also packed and shipped by only me. This means items are made in small batches and may not be available for a long time as I am unable to make in large quantities.

Can you help me with a problem with my order?

Yes! Please use the contact form below if you have any issues.
Make sure to read my other frequently asked questions before contacting as they might answer your queries. I am more than happy to help out in any way I can and remember I am just one person, this is not a company so please be kind and patient and I will do everything I can.

How long is my order going to take to arrive?

It can take 3-5 business days for me to process and dispatch an order. This means if you place an order on a Wednesday it could take until the following Tuesday for me post the order and get it out. However, usually I like to get the parcels out within three days but delays might occur when I have a larger amount of orders than usual or if any items are made to order.
This time frame does not account for shipping. I use Royal Mail Tracked 48h delivery so once dispatched it will be another 2-3 days until your item arrives.

This all means for standard parcels please allow at least a 5-10 business days for your parcel to arrive and make sure to keep an eye on your tracking. However, you're likley looking at the shorter end of this scale!

If you have any concerns please get in touch below. If you need something for a specific date contact me and I can let you know if you think it will arrive in time, this may require additional shipping costs.

Why is postage £3?

Shipping costs me a lot of money. I use RoyalMail 48h Tracked Delivery so both me and you can see where the package is on its journey. This is to verify that your items have been delivered and also means you get a photo of your delivery which is great for when the parcel might be left out.
I charge a flat rate of delivery which actually means you save money when placing larger orders and I also take the hit when you spend over £50 and pay for the shipping myself as a thank you. If I were to not charge for delivery this would mean that I would have to raise my prices for all my items to account for that cost. This would mean that when ordering multiple items you would be overcharged so a flat rate keeps your postage at the minimum.

Can I make a return?

If you have an issue with your order and want to make a return please contact me. I will need to see visuals for any damage or faulty items.

I can only accept returns on items in their original condition this means that used items like wax melts cannot be returned. If you have an issue with your order, make sure you contact me and we can sort things out. Please be aware you may have to pay for the return postage if you want a full refund.

Sale items are final and cannot be returned.

Thanks for stopping by!

Phoebshandmade is my little passion project. I got a wax melt making set for my birthday one year, but just could not use as many melts as I wanted to make and experiment with. I'm a big reader and booktok lover and so I thought as a fun idea I would make myself some melts inspired by my favourite books!
I also love to sew and on making myself some fun book sleeves and kindle cases, I realised these along my wax melts were gifts I would love to receive myself - so I began my Etsy!
Now I have my own little site and a few other fun items for sale. Everything you see is handmade by me in small batches so keep an eye out for when new products drop!
